Jack O. Balswick, Senior Professor of Sociology and Family Development
B.A., Chico State College; M.A., Ph.D., University of Iowa; Post Doctoral Study in Theology at Trinity Divinity School. Dr. Balswick is a Certified Family Life Educator and is recognized as one of the leading family sociologists in the country. He has developed special research and teaching interests in gender roles and sexuality, men’s ministry, and family ministries. He has been twice appointed as a Senior Fulbright Scholar (1972-1973 and 1981-1982) and has received a cross-cultural study fellowship in India (1974). He is a highly sought speaker at seminaries, colleges, parachurch organizations, and conferences. Dr. Balswick has published over 75 articles in professional journals and has authored or coauthored 17 books.
Judith K. Balswick, Senior Professor of Marital and Family Therapy, licensed marital and family therapist. B.A., Augustana College; M.A., University of Iowa; Ed.D., University of Georgia. Dr. Balswick specializes in family therapy, human sexuality, and family communication. She leads enrichment seminars in marriage, parenting, women's issues and sexuality. She has had a number of articles published in professional journals.
The Balswicks have co-authored the following books: The Family: A Christian Perspective on the Contemporary Home, A Model for Marriage: Covenant, Grace, Empowerment, and Intimacy, Relationship-Empowerment Parenting, Authentic Human Sexuality; Dual Earner Marriage, and Family Pain: Getting through the hurts,which have been well received by their audiences. In addition, Jack is author of The Reciprocating Self: Human Development in Theological Perspective, Men at the Crossroads, and Why I can’t say I love you; Judy is author of Mothers and Daughters Making Peace, LifeTies: Cultivating relationships that make life worth living; and Then they leave home.
